Fiction and Non-Fiction for Beginners with Tony DuShane
Thursdays starting October 19th at 6 p.m. (PDT) for 4 weeks.

This workshop will teach the basics of short stories, journalism and essays. Or get a jump start on your novel.
Every week you will learn what it takes to set up your future life and career as a writer. Along with online lectures, students will work on developing a piece ready to publish as well as pitch letters, and learn how to get your work into magazines, newspapers, anthologies and work with agents and publishers.
Online video lectures are Thursdays, 6 p.m. - 7 p.m. All students will spend time each week working one on one with Tony DuShane outside of class hours as well as with each other in a peer group environment.
Must have a Google+ account. All classes are interactive since it will be set up as a video conference call.

Tony DuShane is the author of Confessions of a Teenage Jesus Jerk (Soft Skull Press 2010). He's a columnist for the San Francisco Chronicle and hosts the weekly literary talk show, Drinks with Tony, on Radio Valencia, 87.9FM. Hundreds of writers have been featured on the show including David Sedaris, Chuck Klosterman, Nick Cave, Chuck Palahniuk, James Ellroy, Irvine Welsh, Miranda July and William T. Vollmann.
His articles and essays have been published in many anthologies and publications including Mother Jones, The Believer, The Rumpus and The Bold Italic. He also writes for television and film.
