Novel Writing Workshop 2024

This online workshop will include live lectures on zoom, in-class exercises, assignments, and workshop. Lectures will be recorded for students who can’t make every class.
Each week we’ll explore every part of what makes a great novel including character, plot, theme, conflict, dialogue, point of view, and more.
Along with the live lectures we’ll have discussion boards for workshop notes, assignments, and take a deep dive into published novels.

Students will have the opportunity to workshop 20-30 pages during the live sessions.

Tony DuShane is the author of Confessions of a Teenage Jesus Jerk (Soft Skull). His book was made into a film by Eric Stoltz. DuShane has written hundreds of articles on books and music for outlets like Mother Jones, Penthouse, San Francisco Chronicle, Los Angeles Times, and more. He also hosts the weekly chat show Drinks with Tony where he interviews authors the likes of Chuck Palahniuk, A. M. Homes, and Nick Cave. He teaches a free class every month at the Los Feliz Public Library in Los Angeles.
