Afternoon Novel 1

Fridays at 1pm Pacific / 4pm Eastern. August 1 – 29, 2025
Limited to six students. Each class lasts about two hours.

A five-week lecture and workshop on Zoom. This course will go over the process of starting and finishing a novel. Topics include craft, structure, editing and rewrites, how to tackle the blank page, creating compelling characters, how to plot, and more.

Students are expected to keep a daily journal of their writing and reading. There will be in-class free writing exercises to get the creative juices flowing as well as check-ins to make sure everyone is on the path to not only getting their first chapter together, but, finding the way towards completion.
